Eben van Heerden, Portfolio and Investment Manager
Eben joined HBD in November 2005 where he holds the position of portfolio manager and is responsible for all the financial and legal aspects of HBD's portfolio. Eben is also part of the investment team and is a non-executive director on a number of HBD's investments.
A qualified Chartered Accountant, Eben completed his articles in 1995 with Ernst & Young in Namibia. After several more years in the accounting and auditing profession he joined Ohlthaver & List, the largest privately owned group of companies in Namibia as Director: Strategy and Business Development. He was directly involved in the Heineken / Diageo transaction with Namibia Breweries, the subsequent formation of Brandhouse in South Africa, and other large financial transactions with a number of South Africa's leading banks.
Eben moved back to South Africa after 14 years in Namibia. He was appointed as financial director for one of the University of Stellenbosch commercialised initiatives after which he joined HBD Venture Capital. Eben's hobbies include his dogs, celebrated films and Jungian psychology literature.
